As you will appreciate, most people suspend from high branches in wooded areas. Where that is not possible a central pole or a tripod method can be used.
We use a 6 meter scaffolding pole which we have split in two to ease transportation.
The scaffolding pole is quite a heavy beast which requires a sophisticated wire and pulley system to erect.
An easier method, is a three pole tripod system which is much more stable and requires less heavy duty rope guying to keep up. Customers of ours have used two-piece wood poles to achieve this.
